OUR FREE WORKBOOK

Free Workbook for Visitors

Children and adults alike can enjoy our Revealing Genius workbook, available free at the Gallery. It’s packed with questions, drawing prompts, and close-looking activities based on Spencer’s works – including the fascinating development of Neighbours (1936). Try your hand at cross-hatching, explore how Stanley stylised his figures, and discover the stories behind the art.

This free workbook is designed to help you explore Stanley’s world in a fun and thoughtful way. As you move through the gallery, you’ll discover how Stanley developed his ideas – from quick sketches to finished masterpieces. One of the highlights is Neighbours (1936), where you can follow the journey of a single idea through three different stages: a drawing, a print, and a painting. Look closely and see how the figures change – their shapes, their expressions, even the way they interact. This is your chance to step into Stanley’s shoes and see the world through his eyes.
